#IntellectualPropertyLawInAction
Did Tommy Richman’s hit song “Million Dollar Baby,” which debuted Number Two on the Billboard Hot 100, impact one of the establishments mentioned in the song: a karaoke bar located in the State of Virginia called “Queen’s Gambit?”
According to the Washingtonian, Glenn Ramirez opened Queen’s Gambit twenty four years ago—the same year Richman was born. See Tommy Richman’s Hit Song “Million Dollar Baby” Name-Drops a Virginia Karaoke Bar.
Ramirez also had no idea that when Richman came by the bar, he was filming the karaoke session for later use in his official music video. “They just popped in and they were having fun and that was it,” he says. Id.
Should establishments, such as Queen’s Gambit, have intellectual property law clauses in their real estate property leases?
